Gorbs rip the crowd a new one at the Hellenic Club!


Hey Zeitgeisters,

As you know, my band Dancing with Gorbachev (DWG) has had some teething problems over the last three months, so I am pleased to announce that our new line-up is really starting to smoke.

Just to introduce or possibly re-introduce them to you,

Pedrag Babich: guitar,
Zlatko Babich: rhythm
Toma Draskovic: bass, vibes, theremin
Vikram Suprotik: drums
Mr Trivia: vocals, poetry

Check out the photos taken by Toma’s mum, Jelena. They show us at a recent gig at the Hellenic Club, Northbridge, where we supported local band The Pencils.

We’re still doing quite a few Nickelback, Live, Ash, Simple Plan and Pussycat Dolls covers, but we’re working hard on our originals. Our new opening song is a kick-ass rock ballad that Vikram wrote, very much in the style of Metallica’s Enter Sandman. It’s called Why Don’t People Get Me?

What’s with Bradley Whitford’s Hair?

Okay, Zeitgeisters, that’s as shallow an attention-grabbing start as one could ever want, but I really want to know. And sure, I’m really talking about Josh Lyman’s hair. (I’m like one of those people who insist on calling an actor by their character’s name – only in reverse. e.g. “Go Knight Boat!”) Whitford plays Deputy Chief of Staff, Josh Lyman, in the Aaron Sorkin -created, NBC television series The West Wing . He plays this part to a tee and now he’s set to do great things in the new Sorkin drama, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip . I know this last bit because the Angriest Ex-Video Store Clerk in the world told me. Oh, and Whitford ’s married to the awesome Jane Kaczmarek who plays mom, Lois, in the series Malcolm in the Middle. So Mr Whitford’s your regular pop-cultural icon and yardstick for excellence. Zeitgeisters, You woke up this morning asking the above question. Well, it turns out that she was somewhat of a rock-star back in the day. Anyone who read that last description and cringed, nay, reached for their mouse to click on ‘comments’ should probably not read any further. It may get a whole lot worse for you, history fans. Yep, turns out she was like Elizabeth Taylor, Hillary Clinton, Jane Fonda and Angelina Jolie all rolled into one kick-ass Middle Ages super woman. According to the Wikipedia : Eleanor, Duchess of Aquitaine (1122 –1 April 1204) was one of the wealthiest and most powerful women in Europe during the High Middle Ages.
