Letter to McDonald's

Firstly, I did get a reply from McDonald’s South Africa about which about which of their stores was closest to my house in Perth Western Australia.
Dear Mr Trivia,

Apologies for the late reply. Thank you very much for the compliments on the website! The restaurant locator is for the McDonald's restaurants in South Africa, but I'm sure if you contact McDonald's in Australia they will assist you in finding your closest store.

Nice though this is, it unfortunately doesn’t resolve the matter and I have forwarded my enquiry to McDonald’s Australia.

I will let you know when they reply in earnest.

Lee Meriwether

Above is a video capture from the US game show The Match Game which was their Blankety Blanks (as we called it in Oz or Blankety Blank if you lived in UK) .

Meriwether is famous for a number of things. She was Miss America 1955, Dr Ann McGregor in the sci-fi series The Time Tunnel (1966-67) and Betty on the detective series Barnaby Jones (1973-80).

But in my humble opinion (I wish there was some way to abbreviate that expression) she is the best Catwoman from the Adam West Batman series – although apparently she only played the role in the 1966 movie.

She is, in the pantheon of Mr Trivia, Officially Awesome.

What’s with Bradley Whitford’s Hair?

Okay, Zeitgeisters, that’s as shallow an attention-grabbing start as one could ever want, but I really want to know. And sure, I’m really talking about Josh Lyman’s hair. (I’m like one of those people who insist on calling an actor by their character’s name – only in reverse. e.g. “Go Knight Boat!”) Whitford plays Deputy Chief of Staff, Josh Lyman, in the Aaron Sorkin -created, NBC television series The West Wing . He plays this part to a tee and now he’s set to do great things in the new Sorkin drama, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip . I know this last bit because the Angriest Ex-Video Store Clerk in the world told me. Oh, and Whitford ’s married to the awesome Jane Kaczmarek who plays mom, Lois, in the series Malcolm in the Middle. So Mr Whitford’s your regular pop-cultural icon and yardstick for excellence. Zeitgeisters, You woke up this morning asking the above question. Well, it turns out that she was somewhat of a rock-star back in the day. Anyone who read that last description and cringed, nay, reached for their mouse to click on ‘comments’ should probably not read any further. It may get a whole lot worse for you, history fans. Yep, turns out she was like Elizabeth Taylor, Hillary Clinton, Jane Fonda and Angelina Jolie all rolled into one kick-ass Middle Ages super woman. According to the Wikipedia : Eleanor, Duchess of Aquitaine (1122 –1 April 1204) was one of the wealthiest and most powerful women in Europe during the High Middle Ages.
